Taliban: “Statement of Islamic Emirate Regarding Petraeus’ Latest Remarks”
The NEFA Foundation has obtained a statement from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) in which Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi responded to comments by “The commander of NATO forces in Afghanistan David Petraeus…[who] said that the momentum of the Taliban has been reversed in the south of the country and capital Kabul and that if his strategy were to be implemented more forcefully, they would see a much bigger chance of success in Afghanistan.” Ahmadi countered that “It is absolutely baffling to believe that a general could ridicule the intellect of the masses by making such preposterous claims about his forces complete and utter failure to reverse the Mujahideen’s gains in Kabul and especially in the south of the country.” He continued, “A day doesn’t pass by…that the invaders and their stooges [do not] face immense losses in Logar, Kapisa, Maidan Wardag and Laghman.” He counselled Petraeus “if you really want to fulfil your duties to the American people, you should start by withdrawing you soldiers and stop sacrificing your sons and daughters for a war which is unwinnable.” |

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) has released a statement regarding the recent civilian casualties report by UNAMA, in which the Taliban asserts that “it appears crystal clear that the report is based on political expedience, exaggeration and propaganda instead of surfacing the facts.” The Taliban adds that it “expresses its utter disbelief and regret over the UNAMA report and over the fact that the UN with all the…[neutrality] slogans, plays a major role of a propaganda organization for the American imperialism and keeps covering up the blatant crimes of the Pentagon which is similar to betrayal by [the] UN against the bloodshed and the massacre of the Afghan nation.” |

Taliban: “Allies No Longer Willing to Cover Up Inevitable Defeat”
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) has released a statement titled, “Allies No Longer Willing to Cover Up Inevitable Defeat”, in which the Taliban argued that “As things stand, there is a growing tendency among the mainstream media to unveil the facts and figures of the war and what is going on in Afghanistan under the cover of ‘War on Terror.’ In parallel with this, WikiLeaks’ editor-in-chief said he would not withhold the mountains of classified information on Afghan war from disclosure under the pressure from the Pentagon and CIA, adding the massive classified information would blow the US cover and lift the lid on its covert activities in Afghanistan and the drug-smuggling from Afghanistan into USA.” The Taliban further asserted that “the US is on the verge of failure militarily and morally and every step taken by it arouses intense anger and strong resentment among[st] [the] Afghan nation who can never tolerate the civilian casualties in Afghanistan.” |

Taliban: Public Execution of Woman “Real or Rhetorical Propaganda?”
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) has released a statement addressing whether the public execution of a woman was “Real or Rhetorical Propaganda?” According to the Taliban, “…mainstream media outlets have nothing to do with propagating the ground realities in Afghanistan. What they really have to do is to pin anything on Taliban that can defame them and tarnish the Mujahideen movement, no matter how much they have to overstep the bounds of media ethics.” The Taliban asserted that “when we scrutinize we find that there are some technical flaws and lack of balance in what they have reported in the news about the stated women that we want to pinpoint before we confirm the truth of the news report.” After examining the situation in detail, the Taliban reminded “media outlets…to observe their code of neutrality and [that they] should not be bent on tarnishing their good name for American hegemony." |

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (The Taliban): “Response of the Spokesman of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan about Civilian Casualties Survey”
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) has released a statement titled, “Response of the Spokesman of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan about Civilian Casualties Survey”. Responding to a UN report “blaming the Mujahideen for most of the civilian casualties”, the Taliban announced that it regards “such press releases [as] based on one-sidedness and dogmatism instead of neutrality and justification by related organizations and mainstream media outlets which not only encourage the ISAF forces to keep harassing the masses and causing further civilian deaths but also exacerbate and intensify the tragedy rather than minimizing the effect and slowing down the civilian casualties…” The Taliban proposed that “A committee, consisting of special representatives of Islamic Conference[s], UN human rights organizations, as well as representatives from ISAF forces and [the] Islamic of Emirate of Afghanistan, should be formed to assess the very issue and conduct investigations into the civilian casualties across the country. |

Taliban: “Statement of the Islamic Emirate Regarding the US Setup of the New ‘Local Militia’”
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) has released a statement “regarding the US setup of the new ‘Local Militia’,” which is intended to assist the Afghan National Police in rural areas. According to the communiqué, “The attempt by the US invaders to set up Local Militia is an indirect plot to disintegrate Afghanistan; therefore every individual Afghan, by fulfilling their nation-state’s duty, is bound to preserve their Islamic and national solidarity so as to foil this conspiracy.” The communiqué continued, “The right-wingers’ setup and expansion of Militia is a terrible and failed plan carried out at the time of Najeeb’s rule during the Communist Regime which not only resulted in fueling the racial prejudice and civil war but also brought that infamous regime to an end.” |

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (The Taliban): “Gen Petraeus’ New War Strategy ‘Mass Murder’”
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) released a communiqué titled, “Gen Petraeus’ New War Strategy ‘Mass Murder’”, in which the Taliban stated: “the only accomplishment Gen Petraeus has made so far is civilian casualties (mass murder), which has to be considered his new war strategy and tactics. Regrettably, some 90 non-combatant defenseless civilians have been martyred in the US invaders’ blind bombardments in Helmand’s Kajak, Paktis’s Zurmat districts and in other parts of the country over the past two weeks.” The statement continued, “Gen Petraeus has to realize the fact that the civilian casualties will make things worse for the US invading forces and their allies in Afghanistan, and create growing resentment among Afghan masses for the invading forces, turning the ordinary people against the US invaders which will definitely work out in favor of [the] Mujahideen.” The Taliban noted that “Gen Petraeus’ appointment to the post did not only spiral down the progress of the invading forces in the country but also had the US and its allies military bases, barracks, outposts, airbases and military and logistical convoys attacked by Mujahideen…more than ever.” |

Taliban Praises Dutch Withdrawal, Urges Other NATO Countries to Follow
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) released a communiqué praising the Dutch withdrawal from Afghanistan and urging other NATO countries to follow: “With the US bankrupting itself in the war and bringing its empire to the verge of collapse, the Dutch troops’ withdrawal is, undoubtedly, a devastating blow to it which leaves military and financial gab on the ground whose burden may be covered by the US itself…Furthermore, the withdrawal of the Dutch forces from Afghanistan could possibly provide grounds for Germany to prove its claim to follow suit.” According to the statement, the “Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan view the Dutch forces’ pullout as a genuine effort to meet the wants and demands of both Afghan and Dutch nations and a move in better interests of both countries, asking the allied countries which have invaded Afghanistan in collaboration with the US invading forces to take up the Dutch slack and respect the moral, social and religious values of [the] Afghan war-stricken nation and do the job of leaving Afghanistan, the earlier the better…” Further, “It [is] rational that the US forces should be left in Afghanistan alone to stew in their own juice and suffer the dire and dangerous consequences of their violation and invasion of another country.” |

Taliban: “Response of the Spokesman of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Regarding a Picture Published by Time”
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) released a communiqué responding to a Time magazine cover story featuring a picture of Aisha, an 18 year old who “had her nose and ears cut off…on orders from the Taliban because she fled abusive in-laws.” According to the Taliban, “This picture published by Time magazine and the barbaric story wrongly attached to the Islamic Emirate is not only false, but publishing these images are against the morals and ethics of professional journalism…As far as the story of Aisha is concerned, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has condemned this barbaric, inhumane and unIslamic act and declares that this case has never been forwarded to any court or persons of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.” The Taliban claimed that “We sympathize with our sister Aisha and call this atrocious act a crime against humanity and against Shariate law.” |

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) released a communiqué concerning the Kabul Conference, in which the Taliban asked, “How can a five-hour long…conference in Kabul…come up with a succinct and rational solution to the financial, economic, administrative and security problems; which have not been resolved by the US invaders over the past 10 years.” The statement continued, “As a matter of fact, the strategy being worked out by America and the actions taken by it are only to prolong war in Afghanistan and ensure the presence of the foreign invaders in Afghanistan; which is what the Afghan Islam-loving masses will never compromise on and will continue to much strongly resist against.” The Taliban reiterated that it “regards the US invaders and their allies as the only and main cause of the distraction, chaos, disorder and misfortune in Afghanistan and considers the key solution to all this the unconditional and immediate withdrawal of all the occupation forces from Afghanistan.” |

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) has released a communiqué following the dismissal of General Stanley McChrystal, in which Taliban spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmedi asserted that the “Al-Fath Operation…resulted in the sacking of most powerful American general. This operation will continue in a more effective, organized and severe manner under the guidance of our central leader and will be successful inshallah.” Qari Yousaf Ahmedi added, "No matter how many policies they make or [how often they] change their Generals, the US and NATO have no alternative except to bow down before the principled stance of Ameer-ul-Momineen, Mullah Omar Mujahid…[who] stated that Afghanistan is the home of [the] Afghan masses, and no Peace can be restored until and unless an Islamic government is set up according to the wishes of Afghans and all the occupation force leave Afghanistan.” |

Taliban: “Missing American Soldier in Mujahideen Captivity”
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) has released a statement announcing the capture of a U.S. soldier and noting that “the captive was taken to a safe place the search may be in vain.” A photo of the soldier’s identification was included in the Taliban release. Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid further claimed that another U.S. soldier was killed and added that U.S. soldier Bowe Bergdahl “is still in Mujahideen captivity”. |

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) has released a communiqué titled, “The US Has to Get Out of Afghanistan; Why Not Today?” The communication warned that “the invading United States of America will suffer the most catastrophic military setback in its history.” Further, “The surprise attacks on Nangarhar Airport and huge military base in Kandahar by the Mujahideen in which dozens of invading soldiers and the puppet elements were killed besides destroying American helicopters and spy planes prove that the new appointments by Obama are insignificant. Despite the appointments of new faces, the sensitive bases and military barracks have become easy targets for the Mujahideen. The surrender of important American military bases has become no different from the retaking of common check posts by Mujahideen without any resistance by the enemies.” |

Al Somood: “Jalaluddin Haqqani, a Legend in the History of the Afghanistan Jihad, Part 3”
The NEFA Foundation has obtained the third part of an article titled, “Jalaluddin Haqqani, a Legend in the History of the Afghanistan Jihad”, from Al-Somood, a monthly Islamic magazine published by the Taliban’s media center. The first two installments of this Al Somood series can be viewed here and here. As the author explains, “In this third installment, I had intended to move to another stage in the story of that huge leader whose journey I followed from 1979 until the fall of the Communist regime in Kabul in 1992 - had it not been for al-Somood Magazine which in its last edition recounted the story of the martyrs of the current battles against the American-European armies of occupation in that country. They referred to the story of the martyrdom of one young hero, Mullah Muhammad Amin (‘Ateesh) who was martyred during an American campaign supported by its allied forces against the detainees in the Pol-e Charkhi prison on the outskirts of Kabul…In view of its terrible role in the political history of Afghanistan in the modern era, the Pol-e Charkhi prison deserves to be singled out for its own book.” He continued, “We return to the events that were depicted in the beginning of the book ‘Highlights of the First Year’. I had not intended to deal with them here, because I thought that they were unconnected to what is occurring today. But the incident of the martyrdom of Mullah Muhammad Amin has confirmed that the Soviet experience in Afghanistan has not yet ended. Rather it is continuing, but at the hands of the Americans and under a new name: ‘democracy’.” |

Ansar al-Mujahideen Forum Q&A with Sirajuddin Haqqani
The NEFA Foundation has obtained a transcript of a Q&A session with Sirajuddin Haqqani by members of the Ansar al-Mujahideen Arabic forum. According to the U.S. State Department, “Sirajuddin Haqqani, a senior leader of the Haqqani terrorist network founded by his father Jalaladin Haqqani, maintains close ties to al-Qa’ida…He has coordinated and participated in cross-border attacks against U.S. and Coalition forces in Afghanistan. He is believed to be located in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan.” In the session, Haqqani prayed “for success and steadfastness for the Ansar Al-Mujahideen Network and all internet Jihadist networks that exerted their efforts to break the media blockade imposed by the enemies of the faith. They delivered news of the Jihad and the Mujahideen who fight the Crusaders to the Muslims of the world.” He urged “Muslims in the world” to “help their Mujahideen brothers by any means and in all areas. People with money should help with their money, and the experts help with their expertise, and their experience in the field of explosives and electronics and communication, and combating spy networks, and destroying the abilities of the enemy.” Asked where there is “a specific age for acceptance to the guest-houses” and “then entrance to the camps”, he responded, “the door to Jihad is open to every rational male adult able to take up arms and exhaust the enemies of Allah in any manner. “ He also asserted, “we do not have any relationship with planting opium and we are not financed in this manner. These are all lies from the enemy, to defame the reputation of the Mujahideen, and this claim is an ugly excuse for their defeat.” |

Taliban: “Statement on the Gaza Aid Flotilla”
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) has released a communiqué regarding the Gaza aid flotilla. In the statement, the Taliban called “on Muslim rulers and people of the world to come forward in support and defense of the Muslim people of Palestine and follow Turkey’s footsteps and fulfill their moral and Islamic obligation in liberating the first Qibla, Aqsa Mosque, and put an end to the blockade now in effect against the oppressed Muslims of Gaza.” According to the Taliban, “All the Muslim rulers and people of the world should join hands to confront the contemporary arrogant colonialists and win liberations from their colonialism via jihad and sacrifices.” In the Taliban’s view, “there is no instance of such events in any other culture except in the (distinctive) culture of Zionism based on bestiality.” |

The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) has released a communiqué regarding reports “about talks between representatives of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the Kabul surrogate Administration.” Labeling the reports “baseless rumor,” the statement noted that “the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan believes that in condition of the presence of foreign forces in Afghanistan, all talks…will only prolong the current tragedy in Afghanistan…therefore, [the] Islamic Emirate categorically rejects reports about participation of the representatives of the Islamic Emirate in the Maldives talks.” |

Taliban Spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid: “Remarks about Fatuous Media Reports”
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) has released a communiqué from spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid responding to “reports of [the] murder of 12 students in Ghazni province.” According to Zabiullah Mujahid, “no one has been killed in Ghazni on a charge of [being] a student of a school. It is a baseless allegation. However, Mujahideen had detained four spies with espionage equipment, including GPS and intelligence documents. A special court interrogated the detainees for 20 days. They admitted without any coercion that they were spies. Taliban Statement Regarding the 31st Anniversary of Condemnation
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) has released a communiqué regarding “the 31st anniversary of the communist coup d’état in Afghanistan”, which the Taliban considers to be “the beginning of the ongoing tragedies of the three decade.” According to the statement, “The Americans like their formers Soviet Union, have martyred thousands of Afghans and detained thousands…in Guantanamo, Bagram, Kandahar and other secret jails. They have perpetrated crimes in violation of all rules of human rights under the name of fighting terrorism—even the brutalities of the past invaders seem minimal in comparison to theirs.” Further, “They also claim that now the world is uniplolar and there is only one super power and that is America. However, they are forgetting that in the near past, in this land, by the hands of these Afghans, an empire stronger than theirs, did collapse and fell smithereens.” The communiqué urged the U.S. to “let the Afghans pridefully live under the shade of Islamic system in an independent country.” |

Taliban: “Statement Regarding the Recent Propaganda”
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) has released a communiqué regarding what it describes as “recent propaganda.” According to the statement, “some mass media outlets have reported that the leadership of the Islamic Emirate is ready to participate in a dialogue with the USA.” In response, “The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan emphasizes its unwavering stand regarding talks with the Americans and considers unconditional withdrawal of all invading forces from Afghanistan as a prerequisite for talks and negotiation with the Americans. Talks with America in conditions of presence of foreign forces would mean giving their invasion legitimacy.” Further, “The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has appointed two spokesmen for the clarification and elucidation of its official policy. These two spokesmen are entrusted with the duty to pronounce stand of the Islamic Emirate and explain the policy of the Islamic Emirate regarding all pertinent issues of the country. If some one speaks on behalf of the Islamic Emirate, it should be verified from these two spokesmen. Every posturing or political course of action which bobs up in the Western media from time to time, being contrary to the official line of the Islamic Emirate and lacking prior verification from the official spokesmen of the Islamic Emirate, is categorically a part of the enemy maligning campaign against the Islamic Emirate. It does not reflect or represent the official stand of the Islamic Emirate.” |

Taliban Warns of Commencement of Spring Offensive
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) has released a communiqué warning of the commencement of a “spring operation by the name of Al-Faath (victory) to be launched against Americans, NATO members and their surrogates” on May 10th. The statement noted that “the Al-Faath operations will target the invading Americans, the NATO military personnel, foreign advisers, spies who pose as foreign diplomats, members of the Karzai stooge administrations and members of the cabinet, members of the parliament, personnel of the so-called ministry of defense, intelligence department, ministry of justice, ministry of internal affairs, contractors of foreign and domestic private security companies, contractors and personnel of military logistics and military constructions companies and all supporters of foreign invaders who are working for the strengthening of foreign domination.” |

The NEFA Foundation has obtained and released a composite of screenshots from As-Sahab Media Foundation videos of rocket attacks near the central Afghan city of Ghazni. The videos show mujahideen fighters during a launch sequence without the aid of a launcher. Sandbags are filled and used to provide support, and the rockets are fired using a fuse. The intended target(s) of these attacks are not depicted in the videos. |

Al-Qaida Video of Taliban Rocket Attacks in Khost, Afghanistan
The NEFA Foundation has obtained and released screenshots from an As-Sahab Media Foundation video of two separate rocket attacks on enemy bases in the southeastern Afghan province of Khost. The videos show Mujahideen fighters carrying a launcher and rockets to high ground overlooking the intended target bases. The launcher is set up and the rockets are fired. Subsequently, the rockets are seen detonating near the target. During the attack, the videographer momentarily diverts his attention to an F-16 flying nearby. |

Al Somood: “Jalaluddin Haqqani, a Legend in the History of the Afghanistan Jihad, Part 1”
The NEFA Foundation has obtained an article titled, “Jalaluddin Haqqani, a Legend in the History of the Afghanistan Jihad, Part 1”, from Al-Somood, a monthly Islamic magazine published by the Taliban’s media center. As the leader of the Haqqani network – along with his son Sirajuddin – Jalaluddin Haqqani, according to the document, “remains immersed with great effectiveness in the fighting against the Americans and their allies in Afghanistan” and is “regarded as one of the most prominent figures of both the period of Jihad against the communists and the Soviet invasion (1978 – 1992).” The document, the first in a two part series, draws on “real-life stories, based on the accounts of his closest friends, students and brothers in Jihad.” |

Taliban Responds to Remarks of Former UN Envoy to Afghanistan
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) have released a communiqué condemning the “irresponsible remarks of” “Kei Eide, former UN Envoy to Afghanistan, [who] told media…that he had held secret meeting with some high-ranking members of the Islamic Emirate in order to proceed with the peace process.“ According to the statement, “The Islamic of Emirate of Afghanistan does not believe in any political surreptitious contacts nor has it had such contacts.“ The communiqué goes on to attack the United States for “utilize[ing] the universal caliber of the World Body [of the United Nations] against the Islamic Emirate for political and propaganda purposes,” and condemns the rumors of secret meetings as “part of the massive propaganda campaign launched by the White House recently to ensure success of the Obama military strategy.” It concludes by exhorting the United States “to accept the demands of the Islamic Emirate…and pull their invading forces out of Afghanistan unconditionally.” |

Taliban Statement on Media Activities in Afghanistan
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) have released a communiqué on media activities in Afghanistan. In the statement, the Taliban accuses the Karzai government, referred to as “the Puppet Administration,” of impinging upon freedom of the press in Afghanistan. Specifically, the Taliban asserts that the Karzai government “has warned media outlets not to publish or transmit live reports of events without obtaining prior permission. In case of violation, they have threatened to arrest reporters, seize their equipment and ban the activities of the concerned media outlet in a given area.” According to the communiqué, “1. The ban on independent mass media outlets by the Puppet Administration is, in fact, an effort by the surrogates to obscure their failure and shameful fiascos, which they face during confrontations with the Mujahideen in every part of the country. 2. The monopolization of activities of independent mass media outlets by the Kabul Puppet Administration is a clear-cut violation of norms and regulation of neutrality, independence and freedom of speech and has no justification in the light of national and international laws.“ |

German Taliban Mujahideen “The Forgotten Obligation”
The NEFA Foundation has obtained and translated excerpts of an audio recording produced by the German Mujahideen Taliban titled "The Forgotten Obligation." In this recording, the group calls for donations and makes it clear to Muslims that joining the Jihad is mandatory. The German Mujahideen Taliban is affiliated with the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU). It is unclear from this recording if the group is currently in financial dire straits; however, it is assessed that there are fewer than a hundred members and they are clearly attempting to encourage recruits and donations. |

Interview with Taliban Spokesman Qari Muhammad Yousuf Ahmadi
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) have released an interview with spokesman Qari Muhammad Yousuf Ahmadi. Assessing the operations in Marjah, Ahmadi said, “[The] Mujahideen’s resistance against the enemy attacks in Marjah, Nad Ali district, has been continuing as per the plan. Taliban Statement on Marjah Operations
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) have released a communiqué on the U.S. military campaign in Marjah. According to the Taliban, “despite the preparations, boasts and propaganda stunts, the enemy have not been able to make any headway against a small group of Mujahideen who are not more than 1000 armed men…” The statement asked, “Seeing that they were not able to take a small area like Marjah in two weeks, so ironically, how many decades and how much force would they need to take the whole of Afghanistan?” The communiqué counseled, “It will be better for the rulers of the White House to put an end to the current unsuccessful adventure in Afghanistan. All invaders, beginning with Alexander the Great up to the time of the former Soviet Union, have tried this adventure in this Mujahid-bearing land but they all failed. By traversing the same path of failure and fiasco, Obama only prolongs days and nights of his failure and disgrace. Similarly, Obama should stop resorting to other stratagems and ploys because the resistance of Mujahideen has now evolved into a mature phase.” |

Interview with CIA Bomber "Abu Dujanah al-Khorasani"
The NEFA Foundation has obtained a transcript of a video interview, released by Al-Qaida's As-Sahab Media Foundation, with "Abu Dujanah al-Khorasani" (a.k.a. Jordanian doctor Humam al-Balawi), who carried out the deadly suicide bomb attack in late December on the CIA base at Camp Chapman, in the southeast Afghan province of Khost. According to al-Balawi, "My trip with Jihad began a few years ago, after the American invasion of Iraq. I made many attempts to join the Jihad in Iraq, but Allah decreed something else for me.” During the Israeli invasion of Gaza, he watched a report on al-Jazeera report that depicted featuring “the daughters of Zion… watching Gaza as it was being bombed by F-16 fighter jets. They were using binoculars and watching the Muslims get killed, and it was as if they were just observing some natural phenomenon.” After he was arrested by Jordanian authorities for his extremist online activities, "the intelligence officer – whose name was Abu Zaid [Ali bin Zaid], and who works with Abu Faisal in the Counter-Terrorism Division...asked me to work with the security organs in spying on the Mujahideen in Waziristan and Afghanistan....But the amazing thing which I could hardly believe is that I had been trying to mobilize to Jihad in Allah’s path but had been unsuccessful, then this idiotic man comes along and proposes that I go to the fields of Jihad. Taliban Leadership Council Statement on the London Conference
The Leadership Council of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) has released a new communiqué regarding the upcoming London conference on Afghanistan. According to the statement, “The war-mongering rulers under the leadership of Obama and Brown want to deceive the people of the world by holding the London conference to show that people still support them. Thus they hope to dodge the wrath of their own people. Certainly, they invaded our country in contravention of all moral and legal norms and principles. Former Taliban Minister: Two Million Martyrs to Defend UBL
The NEFA Foundation has released the transcript of a jihadi magazine interview with former Taliban Deputy Justice Minister Jalaluddin Shinwari, once considered one of the moderate Taliban leaders who would cooperate with the Karzai administration. Shinwari said, “we welcome Sheikh Usama bin Laden and his Arab brothers and others in Afghanistan, and we defend them in obedience to Allah before anything…The Afghani people are fully ready to provide—for the cause of Allah—two million other martyrs in defense of Sheikh Usama bin Laden and his brothers, because we consider this a pillar in our religion; we cannot [possibly] neglect the Sheikh and his brothers…it is an impossible matter for us. The love of the Afghani people to Sheikh Usama bin Laden—we believe—is stronger than the love of the Arabian Peninsula to his because he is a Muslim Mujahid.’” He added, “We consider the Sheikh Abu Omar al-Baghdadi and Sheikh Abu Hamza al-Muhajir—may Allah protect those— leaders of Jihad against the crusader occupation to our beloved Iraq.” The official Taliban media wing has distanced itself from Shinwari: “There was a famous person named Jalal ad-Deen Shinwari whose position was Vise deputy of the Ministry of Justice during the Islamic Emirate government, and not representative of the Amir of Believers. Taliban: "Obama, Following in Bush’s Steps”
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) have released a new communiqué titled, “Obama, Following in Bush’s Steps.” According to the statement, “the Afghans…did not expect Obama, a Nobel peace prize winner, to flare up the war in the country…despite his warmongering approach, Obama did not achieve his declared goal of wiping out the Mujahideen in Helmand or realizing the take, hold and build strategy.” The Taliban assessed, “far from receiving a lesson from the failure of their military operations in June this year, the Americans launched another operation this week. The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) have released a new communiqué responding to President Obama’s remarks, titled, “Regarding Obama’s New Strategy”. The statement noted, “The American President Obama has announced his strategy after months of dithering. The essence of the strategy shows that the needs and wants of the American people have been overlooked during the framing of this strategy and it has been formulated under the pressure of (Army) Generals in the Pentagon, the American Neo-conservatives and the wealthiest few in America and for the protection of their interests. Hence it is a strategy of colonialism aimed at securing interests of the American capitalists and it seems America has vast and protracted but wicked and hostile plans not only for Afghanistan but for the whole region.” The Taliban warned that “the reinforcements will provide better opportunities for the Mujahideen to launch offensives. Afghan Taliban Release Eid al-Adha Message from Mullah Omar
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) have released a new communiqué from their shadowy leader, Amir al-Mumineen Mullah Mohammed Omar, to mark the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha. In the message, Omar rejected negotiations, saying, “our mujahid people will not accept the negotiations that ought to add legitimacy to the continuing occupation in their country. Afghanistan is our home, and no one accepts [these] negotiations that’ll make others have a share their home and to manage it, and to forbid themselves from the right to own their home, and to turn this into a slave-for-an-oppressor.” In a section devoted “to the supporters of freedom from the people of Europe and the West in general”, Omar stated, “Your colonist rulers have attacked our country in the name of war against terrorism, and that is to serve a small number of capitalists and suckers of people’s blood, in order to gain more wealth. They have built their new colonialist traps and daily they kill our youths, elderly, women and children with grenades and tanks, thrown over by your soldiers. And at night they barge into our homes, destroy our green gardens and general property, educational and trade centers, with blind air raids. Pushing away this aggression and defending our country is our legitimate and national right, and we will use our rights to defend with all the methods and sacrifices…” In a section addressed to “the rulers of the White House, and the America war supporters”, Omar said, “Considering the present facts in Afghanistan, you and your allies are facing inevitable defeat which will remain whether by sending more troops or taking a series of illogical strategies. Taliban Deputy Emir: "Obama's New Strategy"

In the communiqué, issued after the Taliban killed six foreign United Nations staff in Kabul, the Taliban harshly criticized the U.N.: "If we have a glimpse at events in Palestine, Iraq and other issues and the bloodbath now going on at the level of the Ummah, we will readily know…how callously and brutally the invading colonialists kill common Muslims collectively and invade Islamic lands flagrantly. If we look at the horrendous events in our country, Afghanistan during the past eight years, we will see clearly that the Security Council with its full strength is siding with America and the coalition forces. They have their share in the mass murders of the Afghan people and are the cause of the tragedies and sufferings of the Afghans. Afghan Taliban Celebrate Ft. Hood Massacre
The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) has issued a new official communique in response to the massacre at Ft. Hood, Texas that killed 13 people. In a statement titled, "The Attack In Texas Is A Proof On The Disagreement Among American Soldiers Over The War", the Taliban celebrated the "fight and trance and enormous fears within the military and civil circles in America" caused by the incident. The Taliban noted, "the hero of the attack is the Muslim psychiatrist in the rank of Major in the American Army, from Palestinian origin... Some of the Western organizations and media sources say—regarding the factors that made the American soldier Nidal Hasan carry this attack—it might be caused by psychological illness and stress, which spread amongst the soldiers in the battlefields in Afghanistan and Iraq... But, other specialists, next to these factors, diagnosed another special factor; that the oppression and the monstrosity and prisoner torture and air raids and general killing, carried out by the American army in Iraq and Afghanistan, have led to a situation of widespread dissonance and exhaustion between the American soldiers, and the American military bases. Maybe this incident was a reaction to these injustices, and disowning them." The Taliban statement further warned that if the U.S. fails to withdraw from Iraq and Afghanistan "it will become normal for incidents and attacks similar to Texas’ to expand to the Pentagon and the rest of the American military bases, and it is inevitable that those with a spark of self-awareness to react with fundamentalist rebellion."

Interview with Taliban Spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid re: the UN Guesthouse Attack in Kabul
The NEFA Foundation has obtained an English transcript of an interview with Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid regarding the October 28th attack on the UN Guesthouse in Kabul that left 11 dead, including 5 UN workers. According to the interview, “A great number of foreigners, who are to monitor the coming runoff elections, are staying in the guesthouse. Being equipped with weapons, the Mujahideen succeeded to enter the guesthouse and opened fire on security guards pointblank inside the compound of the guesthouse. When security forces from other parts of the city arrived at the scene, Mujahideen engaged them in fighting. After putting up strong resistance, the Mujahideen detonated their explosives, killing or injuring about 50 foreigners.” Moreover, “According to a previously worked out plan, Mujahideen fired 5 missiles at the Presidential Palace and the Serena Hotel at nine o’clock which resulted in casualties among foreign nationals, staying in the hotel. Eyewitnesses say, vehicles were seen racing out with dead bodies and injured persons. Al-Somood Interview with Taliban Official in Herat Province
The NEFA Foundation has obtained an interview with Sheikh Abdul Manan Niyazi, Governor and Military Official for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (The Taliban) in Herat Province, published in Al-Somood, a monthly Islamic magazine published by the Taliban’s media center. According to Al-Somood, Niyazi has belonged to the Taliban “since the beginning of its establishment and he is…considered to have played a prominent role in the foundation of the movement." Niyazi asserted that “Percentage-wise…the enemy does not control more than 10% of Herat…In Herat there are no areas in which the Mujahidin do not have powerful military strongholds which they control." He added, “we can say with all reassurance that the Mujahideen are concentrated in plentiful numbers in every corner of Herat province, praise be to Allah. We do not feel any scarcity of Mujahedeen and have not suffered from any scarcity up to this time. They resist the enemy with different military procedures and use effective tactics such as exploding mines and improvised explosive devices, fight and flight and surprise raids." Taliban: “Regarding the Runoff Elections”
The NEFA Foundation has obtained a communication from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) titled “Regarding the Runoff Elections,” which noted that runoff elections are being held again to “keep the attention of our countrymen and the public of the world diverted in order to hide their defeat at the military field." On the command of your belief and the Afghani conscience, you should completely boycott the elections on the basis of the rule of Sharia." Taliban Statement on the “Eighth Anniversary of the American Attack on Afghanistan”

Taliban Media Spokesman: Baitullah Mehsud is Still Alive
The NEFA Foundation has obtained a new message posted by Abdullah al-Wazir, the official online correspondent for the media wing of the Taliban movement in Afghanistan, sharply denying reports that the leader of the Pakistani Taliban Baitullah Mehsud has been killed in a U.S. missile strike. Q&A With Taliban Media Wing Representative
The NEFA Foundation has obtained and produced an edited transcript of an open question-and-answer session with Afghan Taliban media wing spokesman Ahmad Mukhtar that took place several days ago over an Arabic-language Internet chat forum. During the exchange, when asked about the Taliban's stance on the 9/11 attacks, Mukhtar replies, "as he who harms Muslims whether in Afghanistan, Palestine, Iraq or others of Muslim countries, then it is rightful for Muslims too to return the harm like how they harmed them.” Mukhtar was asked, "Has Hezb-e-Islami, under the command of Gulbudeen Hekmatyar, given bayat to the Amir of Believers, Mulla Muhammad Omar Mujahid, or is he carrying [out] Jihad outside of it? And how do you view the Hezb-e-Islami?” He responds, "Hezb-e-Islami, under the leadership of Hekmatyar, did not give bayat to the Amir of Believers…we view him as a brother in belief and faith and we respect him.” And addressing the Muslim Brotherhood, he states, "Regarding the support of some members of the Brotherhood Movement against the Islamic Emirate, [it] is because of their greed to reign and claim positions. Allah has punished them so that they lost life's positions and they have to go back to their religion before they lose the afterlife. Taliban: "Why Are the Americans Closing Down Jihadi Media?”
The NEFA Foundation has obtained a new communiqué from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) assailing purported American efforts to shut down Taliban web sites and radio stations. On April 18, 2009, The Wall Street Journal reported that “the Obama administration is starting a broad effort in Pakistan and Afghanistan to prevent the Taliban from using radio stations and Web sites to intimidate civilians and plan attacks…As part of the classified effort, American military and intelligence personnel are working to jam the unlicensed radio stations in Pakistan's lawless regions on the Afghanistan border that Taliban fighters use to broadcast threats and decrees. U.S. personnel are also trying to block the Pakistani chat rooms and Web sites that are part of the country's burgeoning extremist underground.” In response, the Taliban asserted that the Americans "for the past four to five years have made widespread and continuous efforts to silence and foil these websites and stations." Moreover, according to the Taliban, "The Americans should feel really ashamed that despite their huge material strength and superiority they are [so] afraid of a few local Internet sites and FM radio stations, which cannot operate outside a 20 km radius, that the Pentagon intervenes and regards these limited and few sources as a great threat." |

Taliban Insist "Closing the Cages of Guantanamo is Not Enough"

It is, however, another issue as to... whether the closure of this prison is really Obama's initiative or the result of the blessing of the strength, faith, and great determination of the mujahideen... Taliban Reject Hamid Karzai's Offer to Protect Mullah Omar
The NEFA Foundation has obtained a new statement from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban) rejecting Afghan President Hamid Karzai's solemn offer to Mullah Omar to "guarantee his security and safety" if he would agree to willingly participate in peace negotiations. The Taliban assert that "Karzai and his masters should know, personal immunity and power obtainment is not an issue for Mullah Mohammad Omar Mujahid." Further, "Our people may remember that at the first months following the American invasion of Afghanistan, Mr. Karzai was reiterating the same appeals and polished assertions for members and the rank and file of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, claiming no member of Taliban, whether senior or junior, would be harassed merely by being a member of Taliban. Then, we saw with our own eyes that thousands of defenseless Taliban were arrested and kept in containers and dungeons of Qallae Jangi. They were consequently mercilessly martyred -- an unforgettable tragedy reminiscent of Mr. Karzai’s retracting his promise... one can conclude that the hackneyed words and assertions by Mr. Karzai are aimed at throwing dust in the eyes of the people. Taliban Deny Peace Talks, Urge Fighters to Avoid Innocent Civilians
The NEFA Foundation has obtained and translated four new statements from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (the Taliban). In these new communiqués, the Taliban have denied widespread rumors of Saudi-sponsored peace talks with the Afghan government and have mocked news that U.S. troops withdrawing from Iraq may soon be sent to Afghanistan. The communiqués also include an official message from Taliban commander Mullah Mohammed Omar, in which he strongly warned Taliban fighters, “be very careful when you face the general population and your innocent countrymen. Don’t go ahead with an attack which has the possibility of harming the general population… Every act [must be avoided] which is not in harmony with the teachings of Islam, which is not customary in our Islamic civilization, or which reflects poorly upon the Islamic nation. Covert enemy operations carried out in your name—such as the blasts in the mosques where there are gatherings of innocent people, highway robbery, the chopping of noses and ears in the name of what is forbidden in Islam and what is considered permissible or non permissible, and the burning of Islamic books—must be strongly countered. Whoever is responsible for acts such as this for whatever reasons must restrain his group, and must not defame our mujahideen.”

Al-Qaida's Foreign Fighters Shift Focus from Iraq to Pakistan and Afghanistan
The NEFA Foundation has obtained and translated Arabic-language biographies of foreign fighters—particularly those from Saudi Arabia and Kuwait—which appear to document a shift in focus away from the jihad in Iraq and towards the growing conflict in Pakistan and Afghanistan. The biographies include the story of “Abu Ubaidah al-Najdi”, a 25-year old Saudi medical student who spent six months fighting in northern Iraq before leaving and “heading for Afghanistan”—and the video-recorded "martyrdom" will of "Abu Ghareeb al-Makki" (a.k.a. Kamaal al-Hadhli), the Saudi Al-Qaida suicide bomber responsible for the June 2008 suicide bombing attack on the Danish embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan. One of the other men profiled in the documents, Saudi national Sari Bin Hamad al-Sari (a.k.a. Ikrama al-Najdi)—who died in a failed Taliban assault on the Khost regional airport in Afghanistan—was reputed to have been a close friend and associate of Abu Ghareeb al-Makki.

Al-Somood Biography of Deceased Taliban Military Commander Mullah Dadullah
The NEFA Foundation is releasing additional content drawn from Al-Somood, a monthly Islamic magazine published by the Taliban’s media center. In this piece, dated July 2007, Al-Somood provides a biography of Taliban military commander Mullah Dadullah, who was killed by NATO and Afghan troops in May 2007. The biography explains that "One of the most dangerous (things) the martyr Dadullah had done against the worldwide crusader ally in Afghanistan is coaching the suicide youngsters who had overpowered the crusader forces as soldiers. The number of these youngsters reaches the hundreds and they have been spread in the different counties of Afghanistan.
